HCGA Co-sponsors Hungarian Christmas Tree at Winter Wonderland Festival

November 17, 2013 - For the third year, the HCGA is a co-sponsor of the Hungarian Christmas tree as part of the annual Winter Wonderland Festival exhibit at Fernbank Museum in Decatur, GA. The Hungarian tree is one of 34 international trees sponsored by cultural partners of the Museum as part of the annual exhibit. The HCGA co-sponsors the tree annually with the Hungarian Honorary Consulate of Georgia.

Every year, a small group of local Hungarian Americans come together to decorate the tree with their own ornaments. In addition to traditional felt ornaments and Hungarian flags, the tree is decorated with mezeskalacs (decorated honeybread) and szalon cukor (brightly wrapped chocolate candies) that are traditional to Hungarian Christmas trees.

The Winter Wonderland exhibit runs from November 22, 2013 - January 4th, 2014. The exhibit is free with general admission to the Museum.
